Robotic Soldering

PAS wanted a method of soldering very critical components as well as assisting our operators, who have been hand-soldering these parts under heavy magnification.

This can cause fatigue and could result in quality issues as the day progresses. To resolve this, PAS procured a robot to take on this task

  1. The process begins by preheating the assemblies to be soldered
  2. They are then moved to the fixture, which is able to handle multiple assemblies.
  3. Here is the robot soldering a connector on a printed circuit board. The solder and flux are applied with the iron and flux tips at the component location with excellent wicking in the connector barrels.
  4. The solder tip is then air cleaned after each application and is ready for more action!
